Dress of the Week: D&G

It was no contest for the
DressologyHQ Dress of the Week.
The honour goes to Dolce & Gabbana
 for their silk scarf collage
dress of absolute wonderment.

It will have you looking equally gorgeous coming...and going.

Brunch with my Peeps

I recently had coffee with a friend and we realized that it was more than a year since we'd seen each other! She lives nearby, but busy lives unforgivably kept us apart.

This got me thinking....how many other girlfriends had I not cuaght up with?
That night I sat down with my calendar and texted, emailed or facebooked several friends I hadn't seen face-to-face in TOO long.

After setting the date & planning the menu came the best part.
What to wear... Sophisticated & sexy? Fun & funky? Floral & fantastic???
Which of these best says "Brunch" to you?

I bought the last one—the Grace Kelly.
Because...well, how could I not?

Birthday Want

This is my birthday want.
A Stella McCartney v-neck wool sweater dress.
Now all I need is the space on my credit card.

It's at NetaPorter. Hmmm, do they have gift registry? ; D

Michael Kors meets Black & Red Week Part 2

Once in awhile a dress with attitude comes along.

A dress that gives you the confidence to take on the world.
Michael Kors embraces the Here-I-Am-World and
You-Better-Not-Mess-With-Me stance with
this refined but tough leather-trimmed beauty.

Michael Kors at Net-a-Porter

This dramatic boucle wool dress has curve-enhancing
vertical leather trim in a classic silhouette.
It's also my second submission to the Red & Black Week
at Sophistique Noir Blog Event.

What I find most intriguing about this event
is the individual style each participant brings to the game.
Talented stylists in a niche culture.
I find this inspiring—pop over and take a look.

Not So Little White Dress—Gowns of Distinction

It's difficult not to be inspired by the fashion
of the Royal Wedding.

What better timing for a post on the Little White Dress—although these beauties are neither white nor little.

Rather they are gowns worthy of galas, carriages, tiaras, titles and maybe even some crown jewels.

See what you think.

The Must-Have, Go-to Dress of All Time

It flatters every body shape and is appropriate at every age. It is perfect for any season and nearly every occasion—you can easily glam it up, or funk it down.

The classic black wrap dress and its various versions (mock wrap, crossover, ruched, empire-waisted, etc...) is a foundation piece for absolutely every wardrobe.

Proving its value as the go-to dress, just about every label and designer offer a version of this classic silhouette, making finding one in your price point easy.

Julian Wrap Dress at dvf.com for $298US

It would be criminal of me to open this segment with anyone other than The Queen of the Wrap Dress—Miss Diane Von Furstenberg.

Every woman should own at least one DVF wrap, so this is a perfect place to start. And this little cutie is currently available in the DVF online boutique.

Here is a little charmer I couldn't pass up, great price and is available in diverse colors and styles (short, mid or long sleeve, collarless, various colors). The perfect wardrobe basic:

A great bargain from Lands End for $69.50US

A beautiful high-end silk and gauze version for those with designer tastes and a budget to match:
Gorgeous Rocha's £1,052.59 from net-a-porter

A floaty, elegant Leona Edminston offering:

The Ivy Dress $425AU at Leona Edmiston

And if you already have your collection of black wrap dresses or are simply tired of black (how? HOW is that possible?)—I'm loving the next best thing—charcoal.
Just delicious.
