Rachel Zoe in Rachel Zoe |
I don't normally post on celebrity events. There are so many people out there doing it much, much better than myself.
But I was insanely inspired by the colour and beauty of these gowns—I love the union of fashion and art and wanted to share
with those of you who might've missed the coverage of the Met Gala.

This post isn't about running out and buying designer gowns (for those who can afford it), but to inspire and encourage readers to examine the images, study the photos to see how they can inspire and be interpreted in your daily wardrobe.
Florals, Brocade, Metallic, Vintage Style, the trends here (and on runway) easily translate to everyday clothing and likely to items that are already in your wardrobe!
1. Do you have a favourite gown?
2. What DREAM Designer would you wear if you were going to the MET BALL and $$$ were no object?
3. Do any of these looks inspire you in your daily wardrobe?
My answers:
1. I love Rachel Zoe's fringe vintage-inspired (1st photo)
2. Lanvin, Marchesa or Alexander McQueen.
3. The second to last photo has inspired me to look for a vintage-inspired floral wrap with a light background.

Ha Ha!! Sorry for the eye-hurt!! Good call on Elie Saab--still can't believe I left him out of my choices! Thanks for stopping by. x
DeleteI love these posts---there are dresses here I hadn't seen yet. I love so many of them---really appreciate the "old Hollywood" glamour....love Anna's wrap and LOVE the last dress! If I could wear any designer, I'd look at YSL, Marchesa, or something vintage...Chanel, Valentino.
ReplyDeleteI agree the "Old Hollywood" style is unbeatable. Good choices, thanks so much, I love reading your input!! x
DeleteSome gorgeous looks at the Met Gala this year, but I think I loved last years looks more. I was sad not to see more Lebanese designers on the red carpet - Zuhair Murad, Basil Soda and Elie Saab.
ReplyDeleteOnto your cool Q's.
1. My favourite gown has to be Ashley Greene's, she was flawless.
2. I would love to wear a dress by Marchesa or Jenny Packham
3. The bright colours have inspired me
I wonder if people were more daring because last year they honoured Alexander McQueen (if memory serves)? That's a good point tho Sam! Ashley did look fabulous, I struggled with NOT putting both her and Solange up, but the post was getting so long!! ha ha and go figure....those are the two that people mentioned! Love your picks. Thank you so much for your comment. xo
DeleteEmily Blunt looked amazing in that dress, and her smile is always perfect. My favorite look of the evening was Solange Knowles, she was perfect in yellow.
ReplyDeleteShe does have a flawless smile doesn't she? And you are right....I really struggled over NOT including the photo of Solange because that dress was nothing short of AMAZING!!! Thanks girlie for stopping by!! x

I really like how you've approached this article: it's true, most of us arent going to run out and purchase a thousand dollar gown, but the textures and Colours and cuts are all inspirational. I would most likely wear an Ellie Saab gown if I were to attend; I love the flowing fabrics and draping of them. I look forward to incorporating vintage lace into my wardrobe this season?
